Carpenter General
General Duties and
Responsibilities: Carpenters are under the supervision of the Project Superintendent, and under the direction of a Lead Foreman when assigned. At entry level, the carpenter must possess the ability to understand and follow instructions and direction, and to recognize the need to ask questions when clarification is necessary. An understanding of the basic principles involved in general building construction is essential, and the carpenter should be able to meet the craftsman qualifications within 60 days of beginning employment.
Craftsman
Qualifications: Each Carpenter must qualify his skill as a craftsman with the ability to perform the following tasks. Not only must the Carpenter have knowledge with respect to these tasks, but he must possess the ability to perform such tasks himself with speed and quality.
Craftsman Abilities and Tasks Are:
? Concrete Flatwork
? Framing with wood or steel
? Wall Section Construction including reading top and bottom plates
? Installation of windows, including framing from blueprints
? Installation of fire rated doors, including framing from blueprints
? Installation of cabinetry and counter tops
? Finish carpentry
? Sheathing Roofs and Floors
? Asphalt Roofing and Flashings
