The Department of Health and Human Services -Youth Rehabilitation Treatment Center at Kearney is actively seeking a food service cook. Perform skilled work in the preparation and serving of food.
Location and address of position: Youth Rehabilitation Treatment Center-Kearney, 2802 30th Avenue, Kearney, NE 68847
Work schedule: Shift discussed at interview, rotating days off, weekends and holidays
Advertised salary is effective July 1, 2014
Examples of Work:
Prepare and serve meals following portion control standards; food service safety and sanitation; operate and clean equipment; instruct Food Service staff in preparation of routinely prepared food items.
Qualifications / Requirements:
REQUIREMENTS: One year of coursework/training in food preparation and/or cooking and baking experience in a large scale food service operation.
PREFERRED: Experience in institutional, commercial or large quantity cooking; interpreting menus and following recipes.
OTHER: Pre-employment background checks and drug testing is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of special diets prepared by facility, recipes for preparation of meats, vegetables, soups, salads and baked goods; facility standards and procedures for cleaning dishes, utensils, equipment; food preparation schedules. Ability to tolerate high temperature and high humidity; follow written and oral instructions; communicate effectively with customers; prepare special diets; bend, stoop, lift and carry food items, equipment and supplies.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
